Z STUDIO installs a back-up imagesetter

This past January, the CtP workshop that we re-equipped last year got a second Suprasetter A75 imagesetter, again from the Heidelberg company. Although the imagesetter is designated as a backup, it nonetheless has the same parameters and configuration as the existing one. This includes dual loaders, and thus the ability to expose B3 and B2 masters simultaneously without changing the cartridge. The big advantage is simply the interchangeability of both systems, and that, when necessary, printing plate production can be almost doubled immediately.

In December 2011, we said good-bye to our sales representative Petr Rajnoch and welcomed his successor Oldřich Rybařík. He will take over the sales department’s whole agenda, including existing customers, and he will focus on new clients in agricultural technology, mechanical engineering, and national and local government. We are confident that Mr. Rybařík will build his circle of regular customers and devote himself actively to their needs.
Z STUDIO supports sick children’s organization

It’s become a tradition that every year we buy a poinsettia that not only symbolizes the coming holiday, but also Sdružení Šance, an association of parents and friends of children with haematological and ontological illnesses in Olomouc. By purchasing this flower, for the sixth year we are supporting social programs for children and their parents and helping finance post-treatment convalescent stays for children.

This year, Z Studio provided fun for our employees’ children, and a chance to meet St. Nicholas Czech style — with devils and angels in tow. The get-together took place on Friday, 2 December in the document kitting department. Activities were organized by the Beruška children’s centre, which runs a mini-school in Zlín and holds one-time events for children (more here). About 50 children enthusiastically danced, sang and engaged in creative tasks led by Mrs. Claus, with parents readily assisting. St. Nick then gave each child a sack full of surprises.
We presented Hi-Fi printing at the Kulturák festival in Zlín

During the Kulturák festival, our Hi-Fi printing specialist, Viktor Valášek, and the head of the DTP department, Dušan Wolf, presented a lecture called “Highly faithful reproduction of image data using offset technology”. The lecture was included in a series devoted to graphic design and book production. It took place on 25 November at the UTB institute for marketing communication in Zlín. Participants were introduced to the theory and practice of reproducing digital or digitized image data (photos, negatives and all painting, drawing and graphic techniques) when it is essential to remain as true as possible to the original artwork.

XPEDX is among our important customers in the field of printing and completion of user packages. During one of their regular visits to us in Zlín on November 16, we decided to give them a non-traditional reception. The company representative, Darek Lewis, is a big fan of the Chicago Blackhawks NHL hockey team, so we invited him to a game we sponsored between our local Rams and the Pilsen Indians. The Zlín Rams won 3 to 1. At the end, Darek was able to bestow the award on the best players: Those were Martin Straka, who played in the NHL for 15 years, and the promising junior player Petr Holík.

For the second time this year, our activities have been positively evaluated by an independent jury! In cooperation with the association CZECH TOP 100, the firm ČEKIA, a.s., compared the financial status of Czech companies, calculated their future risk of failure, and created a scale of the most stable companies. On this scale, Z Studio received an excellent evaluation and ranked among the top 8 percent of most stable companies in the Czech Republic. Our traditional sponsorship activities include support of mountain bike races. This year we became the main sponsor of the Wood Bike Series, which held seven competitions in the Zlín area. The race’s organizers valued our support and awarded us a trophy upon the series' successful conclusion.

We are happy to announce that we beat out 245 other companies from the Zlín area in the regional round of Vodafone’s 2011 Company of the Year competition to land in third place! A jury of experts evaluated the story of our business and our economic indicators, as well as our marketing plan.
CtP has a new workplace

We have successfully finished replacing our previous CtP facility with a more modern one, so now our workplace has all-new equipment. This change includes our imagesetters and developing machines. These components are from the latest generation of Heidelberg Suprasetter A75. Their advantage is that they allow simultaneous exposure of B3 and B2 format plates, which, of course, is not an adaptation made on competing systems. Thanks to this change we also run more economically, and meanwhile our employees appreciate the user-friendly maintenance and the overall noise reduction in the workplace.
A new facility for the document kitting department

Due to growing demand for document kitting, we have decided to increase the capacity of our document kitting shop. Thus, in March 2011 we moved to a larger facility. Thanks to this move we are now able to assemble up to 2,000,000 user kits.
First in the Czech Republic to offer Hi-Fi printing technology

Z STUDIO is bringing its customers an innovation in professional printing technology that will find its niche in luxury catalogues, high-end calendars and annual reports. We now offer unique offset printing technology called Hi-Fi. It combines wide-gamut CMYK printing with a stochastic raster. This technology produces more vivid tones particularly in the blue, violet and green ranges, making reproduction more attractive. The difference between offset and Hi-Fi printing is clear at first glance – about like an old TV versus a modern full HD screen.
New Müller Martini post-press line allows V1 binding for very small formats

Z STUDIO has purchased a new Primera C130 post-press line from the Swiss company Müller Martini to support our customers' environmental philosophy. To improve the quality of the environment, customers have increasingly started to demand production of smaller format printed materials with V1 binding. The new Müller Martini line not only increases our capacity in V1 binding production but also provides maximum control. The line is equipped with an ASIR (Automatic Signature Recognition) camera monitoring system, which prevents non-standard loading, flap swaps, etc.
New four-colour Speedmaster machine significantly increases colour printing capacity

Due to the growing demand for full-colour printing we have expanded our technology to include the four-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74-4-P+L, equipped with a turning device and coating unit. This investment significantly increases our colour printing capacity and enables us to shorten delivery times.
New B1 format Horizon folding machine

The Horizon AFC-746AKT B1 format folding machine with a pallet loader is designed to fold signatures for V1 and V2. This folding machine has not only increased our capacity but has also significantly expanded our options for processing input print material formats — the size of its input format is double that of our existing Stahlfolder Ti52.
